Set up the contest: Call for contestants

It almost seems that we focus too much on the examiners, organizers, how to write a perfect essay and so on but we forget a very important thing, that is how to announce this contest to the constestants and attract them to join this contest.

We have to set up a project of how to announce this contest, to whom, by what, for how long, how to make this announcement effect, who will be main responsible for this job...


I see we rarely talk about this matter in this forum.

That's right, Riêng. I am worrying about that. I have contacted with almost QB high schools[*] and QuangBinh university for giving them the hard-copy of announcement letter. I also sent the soft-copy of announcement letter that was updated some informations by Tocxu to the sereral shools above (Which I have their email-address). Howeve, I don't know exactly if it will produce the desired effect. Therefore I think that we should discuss more and more to set up our contest.

Please leave your ideas/suggetions in this topic. Organizers will try to carry them out.

I was so glad that you agreed to support the contest since I know that you're always surrounded by a lot of Quang Binh youngsters. If it's possible, please help us by advicing/ requesting/forcing them to attend the contest. As far as I know, the orginzers (Rec and his fellows in Quang Binh) will only be able to approach a few schools in person. Therefore, it you can use your "influence" to make some Quang Binh students in Ha Noi area to join the contest it will be a great help (first of all ask An Giang, the first recipent of Merit Scholarship for Needy Students, to join since the judge committee is waiting for the first submission and truly hope that it would be of very high quality to make good luck for the contest ).

Several members have relationship with reporters in Quang Binh Newspaper (Bao Quang Binh), why don't we ask them to give us a small space in QBN to introduce about our constest and attract the contestants?

Let discuss step by step, I give some question about this.

Contestants who are they?

As we focused in the announcement letter, contesstant is a Quang Binh person of 22 years of age or younger. However, notion of contestant seems a little unspecific. So we should split the contestants into subclass such as:

High school pupil include:

# 1: High school pupil at QB province (Rural pupil/Urban pupil)

# 2: Quang Binh pupil at somewhere else (QB pupil at the gifted class of universities, QB pupils are studying at the Quốc Học Huế high school, ...)

Students are studying at the universities

# 3: Students of Quang Binh University

# 4: QB student at Hue/ĐN/SG/HN/…

After that we should discuss and give solution for approach to each subclass above.

How can we approach contestant?

# 1 & # 3: Send the announcement letter by post/email to high schools. Contact with school’s teacher to give a good offline activity.

# 2 & #4: Find leader for hold a meeting. Every QBO member should be a leader of several teams.

I'll try, it's not only for the contest but also for my pupils. Let's see how strong my advicing/ requesting/ forcing is, and how attractive the contest is

@Eng Rec: Sáng ni em hỏi đứa em học DDT là chào cờ có nghe thầy cô nói chi về EWC không? hắn nói là nỏ nghe cái chi cả

Tuần trước em thấy cái thư của QBO nằm trên bàn của cô trưởng khoa ngoại ngữ rùi, rứa ma tuần ni hỏi sv có nghe thông tin gì về cuộc thi viết tiếng Anh trên mạng k, thì sv bảo la không nghe gì cả.

QuynhQB & Đào Duy Từ: Sáng qua mình gặp lại thầy Đảm - hiệu trưởng - ở hội thảo IT và thầy cho biết: Nhà trường đã xem thư thông báo và rất ủng hộ tinh thần của cuộc thi vì thế BGH đã đồng ý kiến nghị của QBO (như hôm 4 anh em mình đến) và cho phép triển khai. Sau đó nhà trường đã chuyển hoạt động này cho tổ Anh ngữ để các giáo viên triển khai trong tuần này.

Vertu & ĐHQB: Thư thông báo mà Vertu nhìn thấy là do mình nhờ Cao Thị Thanh Thuỷ (Giảng viên khoa Địa Lý - Kinh Tế - Du Lịch) chuyển đến cô Hà (?) chủ nhiệm khoa cùng với tinh thần cuộc thi. Theo phản hồi của Thanh Thuỷ thì cô Hà ủng hộ contest này và mong muốn được trao đổi cụ thể hơn về hoạt động này. Mình nhờ Thuỷ đặt hẹn với cô sáng chủ nhật vừa rồi nhưng tiếc là sáng đó không liên lạc được bằng điện thoại. Đến nhà cô thì hơi lười nên định trao đổi bằng điện thoại hoặc email (thực ra thì mình đã gửi mail cho Khoa Ngoại ngữ theo địa chỉ trên website của trường rồi nhưng chưa có reply).

K biết trường chuyên đã nộp chưa nhỉ? để trưa em về hỏi mẹ xem thế nào nhỉ?
Lần đâu tiên làm cho QBO nên cũng hơi run, kéo dài thời gian khiến anh Rec k trình bày được slide. Sory anh hén! (sory thiệt lòng đó, chứ k phải thấy anh nhắc mới sory đâu) Hôm đấy cũng k căn đồng hồ nên k biết em nói hết mấy phút.

Hôm trước chúng ta đã chuyển bản đăng ký danh sách tham dự cho các lớp và theo thông báo của Phó bí thư đoàn trường Chuyên thì các lớp đã nộp lại danh sách này. Nhờ Dieuvuong liên hệ để nhận và sau đó post lên QBO cho mọi người nắm thông tin (scan hoặc chụp hình rồi post lên dạng ảnh). Danh sách ở Đ.D.Từ thì sẽ nhờ QuynhQB khi có phản hồi từ nhà trường (họ hứa thứ 6 tuần này).

Ps: Chỉ hơi tiếc là không show được hình "nam thanh nữ tú" của đội hình BGK cho contestants để tăng thêm lực hút thôi chứ trình bày chủ động không nhìn màn hình thì sẽ tận dụng thời gian tốt hơn. Với lại, chúng ta đã thống nhất từ trước là cần linh động rồi còn gì. Không lăn tăn chuyện đó nữa.
