EWC 2008: Topics for the second round

Dear Contestants,

First of all, let me on behalf of QBO management board to warmly welcome all of you to the English writing contest held on QBO.

We have finished the first round with an unexpected success; there are 132 submssions and some of them are really wonderful. The judge committee is working its best in grading so that the complete result of the first round will be annouced by 04/25.

The second round will begin on 04/25. We are extremely sorry for the delay (5 days in comparison to the original plan). To compensate for this delay, we would like to extend the deadline for submissions in the second round to 05/20 (5 days later than the original plan). We truly hope that you agree with this decision.

Knowing that you contestants are very much looking forward to seeing the topics for the second round, we would like announce them beforehand so that you have more time to prepare.

In the second round, you are required to write about one of the following topics. Please choose the best suitable one to compete:

1- Find and discuss several good things & things to be improved on about Quảng Bình (three things for each category is suggested but not required).

2- Introduce about your hometown to your friend or a foreigner who is visiting Quảng Bình.

3- What do you think Quảng Bình would look like 5 years from now.

4- Write about your past experience(s) in Quảng Bình and how it shaped who you are.

5- Discuss about the importance of English in obtaining a career pertaining to Quảng Bình.

If you think that any of these topics not clear enough, please let us know. We will clarify them more so that all the contestants can understand them.

Please keep in mind that no submission for the second round is accepted until 04/25.

Yes. However, since the organizers promised to allow the contestants to submit three time, he/she can write up to 3 topics. He/she will be judged by the best essay.

It is not 3 times for 1 topic. We mean you can choose 3 different topics then we will get the best one for the nomination after our correction for 3.

In principle you can write about up to 3 topics since you have 3 chances to submit your essay(s). However, we strong recommend that you concentrate one topic to make it better and better. Moreover, the judges only make corrections and comments once for it contestant in his/her first submission, writing more than one topics risks you chance to make improvement from the suggestions from the judges.
